Kabinetniy Klassico Silver
The dagger «Klasiko» is made in the form of a sword with a large handle and a cross guard, equipped with a stand.
The cylindrical handle of the knife, tapering towards the pommel, is made of cacholong. The pommel is crowned with a round pomegranate eye. The central part of the guard is a polyhedron, the crosshair consists of two conical handles, which end with heads decorated with cast «cuffs». The upper and lower sides of the guard are decorated with round garnets, the ends of the crosshairs of the guard are also completed with round garnet eyes.
The blade of composite Damascus, double-edged, has the typical shape of a sword blade, narrowing in width towards the point. On both sides, the blade tapers in thickness towards the edges, which is due to the function of the object. Longitudinal Damascus drawing. On the upper side of the heel of the blade, there is a blacksmith’s mark in the form of a knitted rune (combination of several runes on one line, in this case Ansuz and Teiwaz).
The knife holder has a peculiar «architectural» shape, round in plan, typical for Empire art, and is made of cacholong with overlays and inlaid with round pomegranate eyes. The stand rests on three round legs. Of particular interest is the place where the knife is attached to the stand, which is made in the form of a silver hemisphere, into the center of which the blade tip is «pierced».
The decor of the knife is a reminiscence of the Empire style popular in Europe in the 1800s-1830s. and completing the development of classicism. The decoration of this product is based on the motives of the Corinthian architectural order: belts of acanthus leaves on the top of the hilt and of Ionic in the decoration of the guard. The hilt is attached to the blade in the form of a palmette. «Warrior» motifs, along with simple floral ornaments, are present in the decoration of the stand — a garland of bundles of laurel branches, symbolizing brilliant victories, decorated with «eyes» made of almandine. In the Empire era, colored gemstones are back in fashion; the deep red shade of pomegranates emphasizes the beauty of both materials used to create the handle and the base of the knife. The elegant cabinet knife continues the tradition of similar products from previous eras.
